Marketing Manchester is looking to recruit an experienced executive to work within their business tourism (3 days) and marketing teams (2 days).
This role will be well suited to an individual who has experience of working in a business tourism environment and has some marketing experience from their current or previous roles.
Person Specification
Suitable candidates for the role should be of graduate calibre
with the necessary experience, gravitas and maturity to confidently
influence projects within both areas of the business. To reflect
the level of the position candidates should be confident
communicators using all formats.
As an experienced professional the ideal candidate will be able to confidently develop and deliver a variety of targeted activity to drive business to Manchester and evaluate success appropriately. Experience of working with public and private sector organisations and external agencies would be advantageous.
It would be desirable if the candidate has experience of working in a business tourism or sales environment and/or a marketing environment.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB: Business Tourism (3/5)
Contribute to the team's targets and KPIs through pro-active
sector development resulting in the identification and conversion
of European and international conferences for Manchester.
Support the sales managers throughout the bidding, conversion and
delivery process for international conferences. Develop strong
relationships with key meetings planners, decision makers and VM
partners. Help to position Manchester as an international
conference destination.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB: Marketing Executive

To contribute to the planning, co-ordination and delivery of
marketing activity to promote and position Manchester as a key
international destination.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: Business
Tourism
Implement a strategic sales action plan for the international and
European association market.
Help manage an enquiry and bid handling process for international
association sector enquiries providing a personalised service to
aid conversion and retention.
Support the development and implementation of an international
marketing plan targeting key sectors, ambassadors and
geographies.
Undertake sales appointments and attend trade shows, events and
sales missions etc as the role necessitates in order to achieve
KPIs.
Work with Association management companies, PCOs and Agents to
secure business for Manchester.
Work with key VM partners to broaden understanding of business
tourism and international opportunities to help secure additional
business for Manchester.
Regular reporting on sales activity and business secured against
targets and KPIs.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: Marketing
To work with the marketing managers to develop marketing campaigns
that support all aspects of promotion of the city, including
business and leisure tourism, business investment and growth.
To develop opportunities and build strong relationships with
partners and stakeholders, liaising with key contacts to secure
relevant input and approval of marketing collateral.
To implement monitoring methods, to evaluate the effectiveness of
marketing activity.
To deliver campaign print, online and promotions marketing
activity including all stages of planning and production.
To liaise and co-ordinate with colleagues (design, new media etc)
to ensure that all activities are delivered on time and within
budget.
To organise and action the targeted distribution of all print,
(brochures, newsletters, leaflets etc) direct mail activity and
bulk mailings and respond to enquiries for provision of response
material and correspondence.
To be responsible for identified exhibitions, events,
familiarisation visits and trade show activity in the areas of:
planning and development, managing budgets, liaison with partners,

GENERAL:

The Graphic Designer will work with the Design Manager to deliver a vast array of exciting design projects as required by the business.

JOB DESCRIPTION
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To promote Manchester to the target sectors, delivering an
efficient and client-focused convention support service.
Responsibilities include managing all new and existing enquiries / bookings to post-event stage, providing as required a venue location service (VLS), accommodation booking service (ABS), bid development and marketing support and facilitating site inspections, in line with Manchester's service and quality standards.
The sales process requires that this role will offer full sales support to the team and our clients to provide a comprehensive service that is best in class.
TARGETS, LINKED TO KEY PEFORMANCE INDICATORS:
· Contribute towards commission target of £300k (10/11)
· Contribute towards economic benefit target of £40m (10/11)
· Number of bed nights booked through ABS = 21,000 (10/11)
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
1. Manage new enquiries in conjunction with the sales team, providing support as required to follow leads through to conversion, including site inspections and a range of support services to provide a service to clients that spans pre-bid to post-event e.g. subvention, marketing support solutions, post-event evaluation (indicative only, not an exhaustive list of examples).
2. Assist with the bid and bid presentation stage to allow a personalised approach that will result in more business for Manchester.
3. Operate an ABS service for conferences and other ad-hoc events including preparation of proposals and setting up events, contributing to the development and improvement of the service and working with convention planners to optimise delegate attendance and achievement of targets.
4. Support the operation the VLS for a range of pro-active and reactive enquiries.
5. Contribute towards forecasting and target setting to ensure accurate business planning processes.
6. Provide project management support for conferences and events.
7. Maintain the Chaser and Conference Bookings Systems with regards to accuracy of data.
8. Attend trade shows or local industry group meetings as required to develop the support service and increase awareness and understanding.
9. Pro-actively acquire new business for Manchester through research, attendance at events, networking, repeat business calls etc.
10. Manage the association data for ICCA and UK city rankings.
11. Ensure that relationships with members are developed and maintained to a high standard.
12. Liaise with hotels and suppliers for copy invoices, rooming lists etc and raise commission claim invoices following procedures. Liaise with finance team providing updated records and figures for confirmed bookings and forecasts.
13. Be aware of, contribute to, and attend where necessary, additional sales and marketing activities to promote Manchester as a conference destination.
14. Other general administrative and sales duties to maintain the smooth running of the service and department and to support the conference & business tourism team in busy times.
