Manchester Tour Guides Training Course 2008-09
Visit Manchester is developing a Manchester Tour Guides training course with the Institute of Tourist Guiding. The course is nationally recognised as a Green Badge level three qualification, specific to Manchester.
If you are interested in working full or part-time guiding visitors around Manchester and have the enthusiasm, curiosity and a lively interest in people then this course might be for you. The qualification is open to all and no specific prior educational experience, knowledge, or attainment is needed. However you may benefit if you already work in an occupation where you are occasionally required to make announcements or brief presentations. Speaking another language can be an asset too.
The programme will be part time and will take place during evenings and weekends from September 2008 until February 2009. On completion you will be assessed with one written and two practical examinations. You will also be tested on your ability to plan a tour on foot to meet the particular needs of a given group of visitors. Candidates offering foreign language(s) will be examined in their language also.
