‘MCR Loves You’ - Businesses return the love with host of offers

Hotels, bars, restaurants and visitor attractions are among the city centre businesses hosting a week of special offers, deals and discounts as a thank you to Mancunians for supporting the ‘I Love MCR’ campaign.

Participating retailers include Liam Gallagher's Pretty Green store, which is offering 50% off its Black label; the People's History Museum, with 20% off all food and drink and the Ramada Manchester Piccadilly, which is offering three nights accommodation for the price of two.

Manchester Arndale, which co-founded the 'I Love MCR' campaign with Marketing Manchester, has brought together a number of its outlets to offer 10% off to its customers.

Deals will run from today up until Sunday, 4 September.

Andrew Stokes, chief executive of Marketing Manchester, said: "The high street suffered both a physical and economic blow as a result of the disturbances. Their response has been a united one - quick to join the 'I Love MCR' campaign and to help spread its message of civic pride to their customers. The special offers and discounts that have been provided as part of 'MCR Loves You' is a way of thanking all Mancunians for helping get the city back to normal so quickly."

Councillor Pat Karney, Manchester City Council's city centre spokesperson said: "Mancunians already wear their hearts on their sleeves, and now all they have to do to access some of these great discounts is to wear them on their chests. I'd like to give a big thank you to all the businesses who are taking part in this deal. They're showing their appreciation for the amazing support they've been given by Manchester residents, who have been out in force over the past couple of weeks demonstrating the legendary spirit of this great city."

The 'I Love MCR' campaign has been a symbol of the city's civic pride and the Facebook group now has the support of almost 19,000 people. You can join the 'I Love MCR' campaign at: www.facebook.com/weloveMCR
